Food safe glazes are specifically formulated ceramic coating designed to create a durable, non-porous surface on functional ware. When properly mixed, applied, and fired to maturity, these glazes form a smooth, glasslike finish that seals the clay body and prevents liquids, stains and bacteria from penetrating. True food safety depends on correct firing temperatures, stable glaze chemistry, and the absence of harmful leachable materials.
